Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls (Töltött Káposzta)
Ingredients:
1 large cabbage
500 g ground pork (or pork and beef mix)
1 cup cooked rice
1 onion, finely chopped
1 egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 cups tomato sauce
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup water or broth
Instructions:
Boil the whole cabbage for a few minutes until the leaves soften. Separate the leaves carefully.
In a bowl, combine the ground meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, egg, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Place a spoonful of filling on each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, folding in the sides.
Heat the oil in a large pot and pour in a little tomato sauce.
Arrange the cabbage rolls in the pot, then cover with the remaining tomato sauce and water or broth.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 1½–2 hours until the cabbage is tender and the filling is fully cooked.
Serve hot, optionally with sour cream and fresh bread.
