Hungarian Nokedli (Egg Dumplings)
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup water (more if needed)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Add the eggs and water, then stir until a thick, sticky batter forms.
- Using a spaetzle maker, colander, or spoon, drop small pieces of batter into the boiling water.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the dumplings float to the surface.
- Drain well and toss with the butter while still hot.
- Serve immediately as a side dish or with stews, goulash, or sour cream.
