For the Vanilla Cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping

- Chocolate drizzle (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 8-inch cake pans.
- Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, butter, sour cream, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
- Divide the batter between the pans and bake for 20–25 minutes. Let the cakes cool completely.
- Heat the heavy cream until hot (do not boil), pour it over the chocolate chips, let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth. Mix in the butter and allow the ganache to cool slightly.
- Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form, then fold in the mascarpone and vanilla.
- Slice each cake layer in half to create four thin layers.
- Assemble the cake by alternating chocolate ganache and vanilla cream between the cake layers.
- Cover the outside with the remaining vanilla cream and decorate with crushed walnuts or cake crumbs.
- Refrigerate for 4–6 hours before serving for the best texture.
