Hungarian Cherry Sheet Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
- 1/2 cup (115 g) melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries (pitted)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, then mix well.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Scatter the cherries over the top, gently pressing some into the batter.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
