Hungarian Apricot Jam Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 200 g unsalted butter, softened
- 200 g cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 cup apricot jam
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth.
- Add the sugar, vanilla, and salt, then mix well.
- Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Wrap the dough and chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Roll out the dough to about 3 mm thick and cut into small squares.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of apricot jam in the center of each square.
- Fold two opposite corners toward the center, leaving a little of the jam visible.
- Arrange the cookies on a parchment-lined baking tray.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool completely and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
